ACT I

Eight-year-old Heidi is orphaned and her selfish maternal Aunt
Dete takes her to the mountains to live with her grumpy old
paternal grandfather, Adolph Kramer and outcast survivalist.
When Heidi arrives in Dorfli town square she shares with the
villagers that she is at home, WHEREVER I GO.  Soon the
villagers find out the truth realizing the man she will live with
and sing POOR CHILD.  When Heidi arrives at the cabin she is
losing hope of finding happiness at her new home at she sings
WHEREVER I GO REPRISE. The old man has been living alone
for many years and still holds a grudge against Heidi's parents
for marrying against his wishes. Slowly however, the old man
grows to love the child and provides her with a loving, caring
home. The next morning memories of his lost son bring Adolph to
join in the familiar song VOICE OF THE MOUNTAIN.  Heidi
brings her grandfather back into mountain society...through her
angelic ways, sheer love, and her adorable personality.  She then
meets Peter and his grandmother, Anna and they spend the day
dancing to KNODEL.  On Sunday, Heidi manages to bring
Adolph back to the church where he used to frequent, WE
BESEECH THEE, LORD.  Paster Schultz is delighted to see
Adolph return, but Fraulein Meinholtz has other things on her
mind as she sing RUMOR HAS IT to Schultz.   Dete returns
unexpectedly and takes the child to live in the Seseman
household and to be a companion for Klara who is confined to a
wheelchair.  Adolph is enraged and sets out to get her back
ending act one with the song WITHOUT HER.

ACT II
Act II opens with the Sesmann staff singing SERVING IN THE
SESEMANN HOME.  It is very apparent to Heidi that she is
homesick as she sings VOICE OF THE MOUNTAIN REPRISE
before returning to bed.  Meanwhile back in Dorfli Meinholtz
and Shultz vow to help Adolph as much as they can and Pastor
Shultz realizes that he has fallen for Fraulein Meinholtz, RUMOR
HAS IT REPRISE.  The following morning Heidi finds that she
is loved and adored by everyone she touches. Heidi and Klara
become fast friends but she is not welcomed by the head
housekeeper, Frau Rottenmeier. DON'T BE A GIRL LIKE
THAT.   She thrives but is inwardly very sad and lonely. No
matter what anyone tells her, Heidi, with faith, hope, and the
stubbornness she inherited from her grandfather, knows that some
day she will be reunited with the him and the beloved people of
the mountain's little village, I NEVER GOT TO TELL YOU.
The staff of the Sesemann home feel Heidi's sadness and try to
cheer her up with the song HEIDI.  Herr Sesemann returns home
to find that Heidi has made his daughter Klara well again.  Herr
Sesemann promises to bring Heidi for a visit with her beloved
Grandfather soon.

When Heidi teaches Clara to walk again, Frau Rottenmeier sees
her future employment threatened and tries to sell her to the
gypsies. Meanwhile, the grandfather sells his most cherished
personal belongings as he sets off to find his little granddaughter.
Frau Rottenmeier is caught by the butler, Sebastian and thus Herr
Sesemann decides that Heidi must go home for her own health.
Adolph and Heidi are reunited in Dorfli as the entire town sings
HEIDI.
