Alice in Wonderland
Our Story begins back in 1899 on a sunny day at the Academy for Boys and Girls where every morning begins with The Academy Anthem. Mrs. Rosemary is holding her English class out on the lawn. The children are, one by one reading their essays about their "Perfect World" out loud to the class. Mrs. Rosemary notices that Alice is daydreaming as usual and not paying attention. This causes a flourish of giggles. Mrs. Rosemary quiets the class and tries to continue but they are interrupted by Miss Dorothy, the gym teacher who is running through as she is warming up for her exercise morning classes. It's Alice's turn to read her essay but she hasn't written anything. She is very nervous. Mr. Digit, who teaches math and meditation, tries to help her by telling her to relax, breathe.....focus. Alice begins to make up a story about talking walls, flowers that sing and dance....and her pet rabbit would talk to her...when a librarian notices that there is nothing on her paper. Miss Rosemary stops Alice, who asks what did she say wrong? The teachers and class respond with Alice, You're Living in a Wonderland!

The class has a surprise visit from Principle Hart,
Superintendent Smiley, Mr. Hatfield and Mrs. March.
They are there to discuss the school carnival, hoping to
raise money to buy more books for the library. Alice asks
why books are always about the past and present but not
the future. It's 1899, the turn of the century! Mr. White,
the music teacher, rushes in for the children's music class.
He lives his life like a clock...tick, tock, tick, tock. So him
being late for class is such a shock!
Class is dismissed. Mrs. Rosemary tells Alice she needs to
pay attention more in class and asks if she could try harder
to fit in with the other children. Does she always have to
be so different? Suddenly Alice feels all alone.
My Only Friend.
To Alice's surprise, Mr. White runs by again. It looks like Mr.
White, but somehow he has turned into the White Rabbit.
This can't be! So Alice chases after him. I'm Late! Alice
almost catches the White Rabbit when he darts through a
door. Running after him, she finds herself in this strange
room.....Room 1900... the year 1900....she is in the future,
standing between two huge walls and a big door....and they
talk! Not knowing how to get out of where she is, the Walls
and the Door tell Alice how to walk.....
Right on Through It. Right as she realizes how to get
through the tough times in life, the White Rabbit runs past
her. So off she goes and runs right into the middle of the
race....... The Dodo Bird Race of 1910! Tis strange looking bird
shouts out, "Where do you think you're going little girl? You're
supposed to get in the race!" Alice is surprised to see Miss
Dorothy, but now she's the Dodo Bird leading the The Dodo
Bird RACE!
Out of nowhere appears the Cheshire Cat, who
looks a lot like Superintendent Smiley. He notices
that Alice is looking very confused. She is! Ever
since she entered this....Wonderland....She doesn't
know where she is or how she got there. Most of
all, why is she here? So Cheshire Cat thinks it
best to advise Alice to.......Keep Your Eyes Open.
No sooner does Chessie leave that Alice is left in
the presence of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
They talk in circles. It's the Roaring 1920's and
life is one big jazzy circle! Soon they discover that
Alice does not have a twin...a sidekick....a friend to
do the Charleston with and she is alone! Well
that's easy to fix. Find yourself a chum
like....Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

There goes the White Rabbit once again and Alice is
off on her way. She wanders into a beautiful
garden...well, maybe is a big Hollywood movie
premier....She's not sure. It's 1930 and Rosella
Parsons is doing her weekly radio broadcast out in
front of Graumann's Garden Theatre in Hollywood!
It's the premier of Tommy Petunia's newest film,
Dancing in the Garden, featurning the lovely
Dancing Daffodils......In the Garden

After the premier, Rosella sends Alice on her way. She sees a bunch of
signs...moving signs that say "This way to 1950" and "This way to
1910." But every time Alice looks away and then looks back, they are
pointing in a different direction. So how can she know how to get back
to where she entered this crazy Wonderland? Out of nowhere, the
Cheshire Cat appears next to the road signs. Alice has decided that she
must get back to the Academy. She always thought her imagination
could run away with itself but Wonderland is wild! Cheshire Cat
informs her that Wonderland IS a part of her imagination and all of
the Wonderland characters can hear everything she is thinking. Keep
Your Eyes Open Reprise.
The White Rabbit races by and Alice runs after him. But this time she
loses him and she stumbles upon what looks like a party.....a Tea Party.
It's 1940 and the Mad Hatter is trying to catch flies for Friday's Flying
Fish Fry while the March Hare is setting out the Monday Morning
Muffins with Marmalade and Mustard left over from Wednesday Wicker
Water Weaving. More importantly, they are preparing to have the time
of their lives....Tuesday Tea Today. Alice joins them and discovers their
table manners are very strange. However, they tell her that the Queen
won't find her behavior acceptable. You can't be in Wonderland and
think inside the box! How dreadful! The White Rabbit enjoys a sip of
tea and runs on his way. I'm Late Reprise.
She must leave the Tea Party at once. Cheshire Cat kindly
appears to make sure Alice stays on her path. He decides she
needs to experience the nearest Coffee House in 1950. The
Caterpillar and the Coffee House Beatniks are reciting
poetry.....deep Poetry! When the Caterpillar calls on Alice to
offer her own poem, she quickly recites..."A Person without a
friend...is like a galaxy without a universe." The Caterpillar,
realizing that Alice is missing the point of life, informs her that
every galaxy is a part of the universe and no one is alone. So
be proud because you're a Child of the Universe.
Alice is totally unaware that the White Rabbit has been sitting
in the Coffee House listening to their poetry. Once she notices
him, he dashes off. In her rush to catch up with the White
Rabbit, she passes him by. He has stopped to catch his breath.
When she starts to cry. The White Rabbit makes her realize that
she has many friends...everybody in Wonderland, that is...her
imagination...is her friend. She has never been alone. The
White Rabbit and Alice will always be imaginary friends. My
Only Friend Reprise.
Alice asks him to help her get back to where she
came from....the year 1899. He tells her that he
can't help her but the Queen can. Oh no, The
White Rabbit is going to be REALLY late for the
Queens Court! So off they go to meet the Queen
of Hearts. They rush to the court of the Queen
of Hearts in 1960. Backed up by her Four
Diamonds, the Queen give Alice on piece of
advice...listen to your heart...because your heart
is.....The Queen of Them All
All of a sudden, Alice gets really sleepy. Mrs. Rosemary,
who has been worried, awakens her. She is back at The
Academy in 1899. Alice has been asleep all this time. Mrs.
Rosemary tells her to straighten herself and come back to
the classroom. No longer feeling like she is all alone in the
world, she now know that with her imagination, she is
never alone! My Only Friend Finale.
